This site describes the RoboInst product
that the Inst Team has contributed to Irix 6.5.
RoboInst is a tool that allows you to automate miniroot installations of IRIX. This includes the ability to script any disk partitioning operations, software installation commands, and arbitrary shell commands that you would normally issue manually in the standalone or miniroot environment. You can also execute RoboInst in live mode, which is useful for installing application software, patches or software updates shutting down your machines. Since some setup is involved, RoboInst is most useful when you are upgrading multiple machines, or if you upgrade, or re-install, the same machine often. RoboInst 1.1 has some bugfixes and new features, including the ability to install IRIX 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4 systems using the IRIX 6.5.2 miniroot. |
