Does SGI have plans to release performer to other OpenGL venders like IBM?

I'm aware of no plans to do so, but the question won't really come up
until we release our OpenGL version of IRIS Performer. Is IBM just an
example or do you really want to run your IRIS Performer applications
on IBM systems?

When is the first release of OpenGL Performer expected ?

My company would be very interested in any info that you have on this. We
currently support a number of platforms, including SGI (running Performer), and
would like to standardise our software. An OpenGL version of Performer
would be ideal.

I have not seen the spec sheet on Performer 1.2, but a previous message
indicated that it was OpenGL based. Anybody know if this is true. We
have a simulation we are modifying to use Performer, but will not be
transitioning to OpenGL this year and maybe even next. Does this
leave us out in the cold or can we mix and match OpenGL calls with IRIS
GL calls.

Thanks for any information.

IRIS Performer 1.2 is based on IrisGL. It supports either gl-based
or X-based input. It does not need or use OpenGL.

There will be a future release of IRIS Performer for OpenGL, but
the just-released (and available now) IRIS Performer 1.2 is very
much IrisGL-based. That lets it run on *all* SGI systems.
