Hi,all

As i use an explorer map to build terrain from data,
(bathymetric data with sonar image mapped on it)
I would use an inventor Loader to build performer
application simpliest.

questions are :

If a such kind exists (Yes/No) or will exists (When ?),
is there a possibility do have a terrain implemented
on more than one geometry node.

Thanks a lot for your availability,

Yves

Question to happy Performer beta 1.2 version users:

Is there really an Inventor loader in this version ?
If so ... does it take care about all Inventor information as hierarchy,
materials, lights, textures, etc ... ?

Thanks for answers to this quite basic question ...

Bienvenue ... et merci ...

Yes.

:materials, lights, textures, etc ... ?

No. It represents the best loader I could write in a single afternoon -- and
I'm not that fast. The right thing to do is to parse the grammar, but there
was no handy YACC grammar, and since a new "IRIS Open Inventor" product will
soon be announced with a somewhat different file format, I did not feel that
it was worth the investment of time to generate one.

It does read the fifty or so models that come with the current version of
IRIS Inventor -- the aircar, pear, space station, and so on. I'd be happy
to post it here, but it would do you little good since it relies on several
of the new database loader utility functions that you don't yet have.

Hello,

Have I just dreamt this or is there an Inventer to Performer (.flt)
converter.
I need to modify a database I have in Inventor format using Multigen
and then load it into a performer application.

A location to where I'd find such a thing would be excellent, Ta

Simon.

Alas, 'twas but a dream.

There *is* an IRIS Inventor datafile loader for IRIS Performer 1.2,
but we ship no function to dump out a complete scene graph in the
Software Systems FLIGHT format.

Do you really need what you're asking for? If all you want to do
is fly through an Inventor file with the speed that Performer can
provide, all you need is the Inventor loader. A basic loader for the
IRIS Inventor format comes with IRIS Performer 1.2, and a more
elaborate loader is also available from me for testing.

Let me know.

Hello,

I have inventor objects organized as a set of files each, with refereces
from a root one via the "File" token. LoadIv is not capable of dealing with
this. Is there a newer version or a tool that will convert all this
to something that performer can read?

Hello,

I'm trying to import an Inventor file created with the "revo" demo tool, to my
Performer 1.2 application using the LoadIv() routine. The routine doesn't seem
to recognize the tokens in the file. Why?

(By the way, "revo" outputs files in Inventor 2.0 format. I've converted the
files into Inventor 1.0 format using the "iv2toiv1")

The file looks as follows:

Hi. I have a couple of questions. We currently have an application
using an SGI Onyx and a Fakespace Boom2C (upgrading to a 3C and a 2nd
Onyx soon hopefully). Our application is homebrewed using GL.

On the next round of development, we would like very much to start
using Performer to help with rendering speed, and to use Inventor
to supply us with a good user interface. My question is:

-Is this feasible?

-Practical?

-Possible to put Performer render into a GLX widget? Make canvas
toggle between full screen and parented size? (boom mode requires
 full screen).
