The Impressionist is a paint program that lets you create a painted representation of a photograph. It does this by sampling colors from the source image and then drawing brush strokes onto the canvas.
To paint, move the mouse pointer into the canvas area, and press any mouse button. As you move the mouse, brush strokes will be created.
By using the controls on the bottom of the paint window, you can change the brush stroke style, and control the size of your brush strokes. You can also clear the canvas, if you want to start over, by pressing the clear button.
Five brush stroke types are available; single circle, scattered lines, single line, scattered points, and single point.
To select a different image to use as the source for colors, click on one of the tiny pictures above the canvas.
To fill large areas, use larger brush stokes. To reveal fine detail, use smaller brush strokes.
