ugr0100-000,revb Interphase CDDI/FDDI EISA Adapter drivers ----------------------------------------- PC drivers readme.txt file version 1.6 This readme.txt file pertains to information for NDIS (2.0.1) drivers for Interphase CDDI/FDDI EISA drivers. For Novell related readme.txt files please look into CLIENT and SERVER directories under the \NOVELL subdirectory. NDIS v2.0.1 drivers for LAN Manager environments ------------------------------------------------ To install and configure NDIS v2.0.1 compliant drivers in the LAN Manager environment run the setup utility provided with it. 1. Follow the instruction provided with LAN Manager setup documentation to add an adapter. 2. Under "Add New Config" select "Other Driver" option 3. Select "A:" when prompted for new path. Use appropriate drive letter if the adapter driver disk is in a drive other than "A". The setup utility will now automatically find, copy and configure the required files and drivers for the appropriate operating systems. Follow instructions provided with the setup utility to select and bind the appropriate protocols. - For the OS/2 environment make sure that the parameters in the PROTOCOL.INI file related to the Slot, Interrupt and Memory Base address reflect the setting assigned by the EISA configuration utility. - The OS/2 driver has been tested with Lan Manager 2.2 running on OS/2 Ver 1.3. - Currently the drivers have been tested with Microsoft NETBEUI & Microsoft TCP/IP protocols. NDIS v2.0.1 driver for Windows for Workgroup environment -------------------------------------------------------- To install and configure the NDIS v2.0.1 compliant drivers in the Windows for Workgroup environment start the Network Setup utility by selecting the "Change Network settings..." option under Windows setup or directly from the Network Program group. 1. Follow the instruction provided with Windows for Workgroup documentation to add an adapter. 2. In the "Add Adapter.." dialogue box Select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" option 3. Enter "A:\WFW" at the prompt. Use appropriate drive letter if the adapter driver disk is in a drive other than "A". The setup utility will now automatically find, copy and configure the required files and drivers for the Interphase CDDI/FDDI EISA Adapter. Follow instructions provided with the setup utility to select and bind the appropriate protocols. - The DOS driver c320tdos.sys can be loaded into upper memory area or UMB (between 640k and 1M) by specifing dos=umb devicehigh=proman.dos devicehigh=c320tdos.sys devicehigh=ndishlp.sys in the config.sys file. It will be successfully loaded and initialized if enough UMBs are available. If there is not enough UMBs available to load the driver, MS-DOS will load it into conventional memory. However if "net start" is used to load and initialize c320tdos.sys driver, it may lock the system due to lack of available UMBs. It is suggested to load the driver into conventional memory to prevent this from happening. - Please remember to exclude the shared memory in any DOS or Windows environments. Eg., in emm386.exe add x=c800-c9ff if the card was located in address c800:0 by the EISA configuration utility. NDIS v2.0.1 drivers for Non LAN Manager environments ---------------------------------------------------- This section pertains to protocol software other than Microsoft LAN Manager that uses an NDIS interface. Examples are Sun's PC-NFS and Wolongong's Pathway. Please refer to the vendor's documentation to install the NDIS driver. The required files for a generic NDIS DOS driver are in the \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\FDDI\INPH\EISA directory. They are as follows: File Comments ------------ -------------------------------------- c320tdos.sys NDIS driver for DOS workstations. c320tdos.nif Network info file for DOS workstations. protocol.ini Fragment of the general PROTOCOL.INI file specific to Interphase CDDI/FDDI EISA Adapter. This will need to be added to the general PROTOCOL.INI file. fddistat.exe An utility to get FDDI statistics and information related to the Adapter. download.exe An utility to download New Firmware to the adapter. Tools ----- Two utilities, FDDISTAT.EXE, to get FDDI related statistics and information, and DOWNLOAD.EXE, to download new firmware to the adapter can be found in the directories \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\FDDI\INPH\EISA and \MSLANMAN.OS2\DRIVERS\FDDI\INPH\EISA for the DOS and OS/2 operating environments respectively. The appropriate versions of the utilities may be copied to a directory in the PATH for later access. The driver disk directories and files are described below.
