                    PCI ATM NIC INTEGRATED DIAGNOSTIC



DESCRIPTION



  This document contains brief description of Product Functionality,

  Installation Procedure and Deficiencies for ATMDIAG, an integrated diagnostic

  utility for PCI ATM NICs. ATM NICs numbered 4531, x515, x525 and x575 are supported.

  ATMDIAG is a simple pass/fail diagnostic for the PCI ATM NICs. Tests include

  UBR mode segmentation and reassembly, transmit and receive mode DMA operations

  across the PCI bus, and control memory integrity verification. ABR, CBR and

  Raw Cell mode testing is scheduled for future releases.



BEFORE YOU START



  Make sure there is an ATM NIC inserted in to a PCI slot, a loopback cable

  connected to the NIC, and the system is booted up on DOS 5.0 or higher

  version.



* This diagnostic cannot be run from the MS-DOS Prompt window on Win95, NT

  3.51 or NT 4.0.



INSTALLATION



  There is no installation other than storing the one executable file in your

  favorite directory. Issuing the command ATMDIAG at the DOS prompt will start

  execution of the utility. RETURN key should be pressed at the loopback cable

  reminder prompt in order to actually run the tests. Test duration for the

  "loopback" and "DMA" tests is less than a minute, and hitting any key during

  their execution will terminate the diagnostics.
